Hello soldiers, saints, and friends of The Salvation Army - Homer Corps,
For all who haven't heard yet, Michelle and I are being transferred to Anchorage Alaska to oversee youth work for the state. The good news is that God in His providential care has hand chosen the next officers to lead the work in Homer Alaska.
Lieutenants Jeff and Michelle Josephson were appointed this past Sunday to be the corps officers of our corps. We watched them and their boys, Miah & Ryan, (via streaming video) be given the appointment.
We still have little information about them at this time besides what has been noted in the New Frontier magazine in the "meet the cadets" section.
We will pass on more information about them as soon as possible. Until you know more, pray that they will have a smooth transition from the Training College to their new home in Alaska. Pray that they be shielded from any attack that would cause them doubt, fear, or worry. Pray for their ability to hear God's direction as they lead. Pray they will sense the overwhelming presence of the Holy Spirit as they move into "new things". Finally pray they be filled with boldness to share the gospel with everyone they meet from their first plane ride..... and that their boldness never cease.
We expect God to do even greater things for the Kingdom here in Homer.
Thank you God for those who have gone before us and bless the Bates and the Hoogstads in their ongoing ministry today. God thank you for calling us to what is next. Thank you for calling the Josephsons. Most importantly, although we all play a part, Thank You for making things grow.
Our prayers go out to all the officers and corps in transition.
May God be glorified.

Gone to Officer's Councils
Hello Soldiers, friends, and fellow followers of Jesus,
Just an update that both Michelle and I will be away at officer's councils today through Friday. We will resume our regular programs next week (including Commodities feeding) so we look forward to our time together next week, as well as thank you in advance for your willingness to help cover things while we are gone.
Keep all of us in your prayers as we get together with all the officers of the State up in Anchorage. Pray for traveling mercies, refreshment, productivity, and the Fire of the Holy Spirit to fall afresh!

A section from the Orders and Regulations for Officers
Lord help me always keep first things first, and may every soldier and officer alike be ever mindful of our "orders" to preach the good news to all creation.
(This is from the "O & R's" pages 15 and 18, Part 2 – The officer's principal responsibility – soul-winning)
As The Salvation Army was raised up by God to bring men and women to experience the saving power of God, an officer’s first duty is to further this purpose. Every officer should personally seek to bring the sinner to God and, by example as well as precept, to train his people in their divine task. It hardly needs to be said that like officer, like soldier. Where an officer is zealous in soul-winning, so will his people be. Where he is indifferent, his spirit can affect the entire corps. Other duties – such as planning meetings, caring for his people, attending to fund-raising – are all essential, but nothing should take priority over this primary duty for which he has been specially trained. This applies to all officers, whatever their specific appointment may be.
The officer will not be content if the work of the Army is better understood, or if his youth sections flourish, or if he secures more time on the mass media for the Army’s message, unless these become the means whereby young and old alike personally commit themselves to Jesus as Savior and Lord. To this end he will not only make use of the Army’s time honored methods of evangelism, adapting them in the most effective way possible to the needs of the hour, but he will courageously experiment with new ways of making Jesus known as Savior of men. In other words, he will be willing to be dedicated to failure. In the divine economy this could be the way to God-glorifying success.
Officers, Soldiers, & Followers of Christ, tell someone today that Jesus is the only way to escape hell and be saved for heaven. Remind the "believers" that we are "saved to saved" and remind a "saint" that we are "saved from sin and from sinning".
